Sometimes people just luck into their career. No matter what they said they wanted to be when they were growing up or what they studied in college or university the world had different plans for them. It happens all the time. A job opening comes up that sounds okay and you take it. Years later you find that you loved it and now here you are in a career that you never thought was for you.

Stuff like that happens all the time and it might still yet happen to you. A lot of the time it comes down to what you love doing in your life. What are your passionate about? Do you find yourself reading over box scores and watching sports all day long? Then a career revolving around sports stats might be for you. If you love mixing fabrics and colors and creating new trends or improving upon current ones in your home then you might be in line for a career in the world of interior design.

Many interior designers find that they sort of stumbled upon their interior design career. Not that many people grow up with the want or desire to put together trends and styles that help design the interior of homes. It's something that they slowly realized over time and couldn't put it off any longer.

There's something exhilarating about taking a drab looking empty room and turning into a space that people will be able to live in. Interior design is for those that are willing to take on any project, no matter how big or small, or how long it would take. Some interior design projects are challenging because the owner has a certain style that you believe wouldn't mesh with the feel and look of the home already in place. You can voice your opinion on the matter but in the end you have to do what the client wants. So, as an interior designer you have to sometimes be able to compromise your vision for the greater good.

Most clients though hire an interior designer because they don't know which prints work to hang on the walls, which color fabrics they should choose for the drapes in the living room or which dining room table set would liven up the dining room. The final call is left up to you as the interior designer because it's your vision that will ultimately put everything together.

There's a lot of responsibility that comes with such a job but there's also a lot of fun and excitement that comes with being able to have a career in such a creative field. If you do decide a career in interior design is for you the longer you keep at it the more likely it is you'll get to take part in larger design projects such as coming up with the look and feel of the interior.
